Light Up the Night on MLK Day With Luminaria Project

The South Orange Maplewood Community Coalition on Race is offering Maplewood and South Orange residents the opportunity to participate in The Luminaria Project. Residents can join 1,000 other families throughout the two towns to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s message of peace and justice by displaying luminaria on the evening of Monday, January 18 at 5 p.m.

The luminaria kits — $10 for a packet of four with four white “peace” bags — can be purchased a in advance by calling 973-761-6116 or emailing [email protected]. Remaining kits will be on sale in at the Annual MLK Multi-Faith Observance Congregation Beth El, 222 Irvington Avenue, South Orange, on January 18 at 2 p.m.
