Maplewood, South Orange Train Station Rallies Planned for ‘Families Belong Together’ Protest June 30

The community group SOMA Action is organizing two Train Station Rallies prior to the New York City/Newark “Families Belong Together” March on Saturday, June 30.

The rallies are scheduled for 8:30 a.m. at both the Maplewood and South Orange train stations. Organizers Kelly Quirk notes that the morning train station rally is a good alternative for those with “little ones who won’t be able to do the mid day sun/heat.”

“We’ll be taking the 8:54 train to Newark,” wrote Quirk on Facebook. “Some folks will be taking the 9:54 train and meeting us there. Its a 1.2 mile or 25 minutes walk to Newark Broad.”

Local South Orange-Maplewood leaders who will be speaking at the rallies include Carol Cain, Rey Tapia, Barbara League-Velazquez and Rabbi Jesse Olitzky.
