There will be a 10K group run every day from August 17 through August 26 to benefit the MEND Green Bean – providing fresh and healthy food to people experiencing food-insecurity. Donate $10 (or more!) to the cause, and do one run, do all ten, support another runner, or make up your own challenge playing on the theme of 10×10!
While we challenge ourselves to achieve our own fitness goals, let’s also raise money to get healthy, fresh food to those who need it. Please donate $10 to the Green Bean – a recently converted school bus that MEND (Meeting Essential Needs with Dignity) is using to collect and distribute fresh and healthy food to food-insecure people in Essex County. Because it is mobile, the Green Bean is able to deliver produce and eggs, not just shelf-stable items. Last year, MENDs interfaith network of 17 food pantries provided supplemental food to over 117,000 people 37% of whom are children.
Make up your own challenge!
10 days of 10Ks isn’t for everybody – your knees or work schedule might say no to that. But there are about a million other ways you join in, improve your fitness, and raise some money for the Green Bean! You might want to run just one of the days, a couple of them, do 5 days of 5Ks. You might prefer to walk 10 laps of the track or swim 10 laps of the pool. The cyclists, triathletes, and distance gurus might want to bump it up to 10 milers. Or you may want to pledge money to another person’s effort. However you would like to get involved, we welcome you to join the challenge and to raise some money for the Green Bean.

Donations can be made in cash the day of the run or online on our Mighty Cause page.
Daily group runs will be posted on our Facebook page as events. Join the group if you’d like, or participate at your own convenience- and be sure to share your accomplishment on the page! The group runs are not races! There will be no timing chips, no swag, no traffic control, and no free banana at the end. Instead you get the satisfaction of getting in a great workout AND helping a great cause.

Saturday, August 18 – day 2 – Will Run for Coffee & Able Baker meeting up at Able Baker at 7am
Sunday, August 19 – day 3 – Congregation Beth El at 7:30am
Monday, August 20 – day 4 – D&I Fitness at 6am
Tuesday, August 21 – day 5 – Morrow Church at 6am – They are also going to do a related activity with their Social Justice summer camp later in the day
Wednesday, August 22 – day 6 – Hosted by Allison Kalsched Personal Trainer, meeting up at Trader Joe’s Millburn parking lot at 6am
Thursday, August 23 – day 7 – Run Jump Lift at 6am
Friday, August 24 – day 8 – “Flat Friday” at the reservoir at 6am
Saturday, August 25 – day 9 – Morrow Church 7:30am
Sunday, August 26 – day 10 – Temple Sharey Tefilo-Israel 7:30am
