On October 20, Open Door Nursery School will host its Ninth Annual Sip & Shop, a holiday bazaar that supports the school and our community. A $10 door fee will give attendees access to this exciting event and will treat them to delicious bites, good wine, and a showcase of extraordinary gifts. The event will be held at the Woodland in Maplewood, N.J., from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Local retailers and independent merchandisers will sell stationery, home goods, accessories, jewelry, children’s gifts, and much more. Most vendors will accept cash, credit card, or personal check, and will donate 10 percent of their proceeds to Open Door. Among a few of the returning vendors are Wildtree, with specialty spices and sauces, Usborne Books, with its creative line of children’s books, and Jake’s Gems, with stylish jewelry and accessories. Debuting this year are Bazaar 28 fashion apparel for women, Beautycounter cosmetics, Lobye toy gift boxes, Hope In Color jewelry, and Jamberry nail wraps.

A highlight of the event is the silent auction. On the block this year are a wide variety of desirable items, including tickets to several popular events such as a PGA Tour event, a WWE match, and a Metropolitan Opera House performance. In addition, it will feature Kate Spade items, a closet renovation, a Music for Aardvarks session, a gallery wall décor consultation, a CKO trial, a Beautycounter gift certificate, and many more items.

New to the event this year is a special on-site demonstration presented by Jamberry, a line of do-it-yourself nail wraps. A Jamberry consultant will be on hand to teach attendees how to apply their nail wraps perfectly, and the first 20 people at the booth will receive a free Jamberry gift set.

“The Sip & Shop evening is Open Door’s biggest public fundraiser of the year. Funds raised go toward updating classroom facilities, providing ongoing enrichment activities for students, ongoing staff development, and purchasing new play equipment, says Open Door Director Alethea Randazza. “It’s an important night for us, and we are always grateful for the overwhelming support of our neighbors and friends from the community and surrounding towns.”
