From South Orange Department of Recreation & Cultural Affairs:
The Village of South Orange is inviting residents and neighbors of all ages to come together for South Orange Community Day 2026 on Saturday, September 19, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Skate House at Meadowland Park on Mead Street.
Presented by the Village’s Community Relations Committee (CRC), Community Day is an opportunity to celebrate the people, organizations, programs, and community spirit that make South Orange such a special place to live.
The free community event will feature opportunities to meet local organizations, connect with Village departments and elected officials, enjoy live music, participate in family activities, and spend time with neighbors. There will also be inflatables, an ice cream truck, and food from Benji’s Taco Truck, making it easy for families to stay, eat, and enjoy the afternoon together.

Bike Parade Returns
A highlight of this year’s event will be the return of the Community Day Bike Parade, welcoming riders and participants of all ages and skill levels.
Participants can bring bikes, trikes, scooters, strollers, or simply their walking shoes and join a joyful ride through the park and surrounding neighborhood. The parade will include a route through Meadowland Park followed by an approximately one-mile loop on nearby streets, including an opportunity to experience the new West Montrose Avenue bike lanes.
Bike activities start at 11am, participants should arrive by 11:30 a.m. to take part in the parade.
Additional bike-related activities will include a bike and scooter decorating station, as well as free bike bells and reflective safety gear.
Children must be accompanied by an adult to participate in the ride, and helmets are required for participants of all ages.
Move, Stretch and Connect
Community Day will also offer an opportunity to slow down and stretch with a free yoga class led by Kristen Brunello starting at 11:30am. The class is designed to welcome community members of all experience levels and provides another way to get active and enjoy the outdoors during the event.
“Community Day is really about bringing people together,” said Councilwoman Summer Jones. “It’s a chance to discover the many organizations and resources that are part of our community, meet your neighbors, and enjoy a morning together in the park. With the bike parade, yoga, food, music, and activities for all ages, there will be something for everyone.”
Residents will also have the opportunity to learn more about local community organizations, schools, civic groups, nonprofits, and other resources throughout the event.
