Hot on the heels of news that locals donated more than $3,000 to the Community FoodBank of NJ through Stop & Shop in South Orange comes more good news about good works from your local Stop & Shop.
“Thank you everyone who purchased $10 boxes of food from the Stop & Shop in South Orange that were donated to The Food Pantry at Our Lady of Sorrows!” wrote Kate Cahill on Facebook. “These terrific holiday boxes (with handle) are by far the best pre-filled grocery store packs we’ve seen: whole wheat pasta, organic no-salt sauce, veg, rice, and beans, nicely consistent with MEND’s new emphasis on healthier pantry foods. Competing chains included high-salt cream soups and fried onions, and sugar-laden juice drinks, marshmallows, and leftover Halloween candy. Special thanks to Cashier Tonya for selling so many boxes, and Bravo Stop & Shop!”
