TSTI Clergy and Members Attend Interfaith Iftar in Maplewood

Rabbi Daniel Cohen (2nd from right) and Rabbi Alexandra Klein (2nd from left) of Temple Sharey Tefilo-Israel (TSTI) in South Orange, along with some of their congregants, were among the attendees at the South Orange-Maplewood (SOMA) interfaith Iftar, held on June 19 at The Woodland in Maplewood. The event, a festive communal meal that breaks the daily fast during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, was co-sponsored by the SOMA Refugee Resettlement Project and U.S. Olympic fencer Ibtihaj Muhammed of Maplewood (3rd from left); the three South Orange synagogues are co-sponsors of the resettlement project. With Cohen and Klein were Maplewood resident Amir Ashraf Latif of NIA Mosque in Newark (3rd from right), Rabbi Mark Cooper of Oheb Shalom (far left), Cantor Erika Lippitz of Oheb Shalom and Rabbi Jesse Olitzky of Congregation Beth El.
