Maplewood Mayor Vic DeLuca will be sworn in for his his 14th — and final year — as Mayor of Maplewood on January 1, 2019, in a reorganization meeting starting at noon. Frank McGehee will be sworn in to his second year as Deputy Mayor.

On December 18, the five members of the Maplewood Township Committee — of which DeLuca and McGehee are members — elected the two men to their respective offices. Before the vote, DeLuca told his Township Committee colleagues that, if elected, 2019 would be his last year in the role. He said he would continue his TC work after his mayoralty ended and 2019 would be a year of transition.

Members of the Maplewood Township Committee held the caucus after the December 18 Township Committee meeting. The Maplewood mayor and deputy mayor are selected by the members of the TC each year. Although TC terms are for three years, the Mayor and Deputy Mayor hold one-year terms. They are sworn in each year on January 1 at the Township’s annual reorganization meeting.

The Reorganization meeting will take place at noon on Jan. 1, 2019 at Maplewood Town Hall, 574 Valley Street, Maplewood, NJ.
