I am thrilled to endorse candidate Summer Jones and her running mates Bob Zuckerman and Donna Coallier — Your Voice, Our Village — as they seek to serve on the South Orange Village Board of Trustees. I’ve known Summer since her days as a Seton Hall undergrad, working in the University’s lab to supplement her education and have had the opportunity to watch her journey to becoming the Assistant VP of Technology at Montclair State University. Summer is and has worked tirelessly with young adults throughout her career in higher education…striking just the right balance in considering the views of others, while setting a track record for taking decisive action. Summer has been instrumental in using technology to improve University services and better connect Montclair State University’s faculty, administration and the student body.
Advocating for diversity as a member of the SOPAC board, Summer serves the community on several committees: Development, Diversity in Programming, and Membership. She also Chairs, the Marketing Committee. And through her role on the Master Plan Management Committee, Summer has had her finger on the pulse of South Orange residents as they discuss and debate Master Plan land use issues. Growing up in a tight-knit New Jersey town much like South Orange; where she worked as a waitress in her father’s restaurant to save money for college, Summer understands the importance of putting families first and encouraging family-oriented business growth.
As a part of a local book club and softball team, Summer on the ground as a member of South Orange in one of the best possible ways. Seeing how she has bonded with these diverse groups of men and women in advocating for ongoing growth from within the community, I can personally attest to her dedication to community and absolute integrity. I see this as a gift that will be of great value to the South Orange Village Board of Trustees.
