It was a quiet day at the polls in Maplewood on June 4, as Deputy Mayor Frank McGehee costed to a primary victory for re-election to his seat on the Township Committee without a Democratic challenger.
McGehee garnered 928 votes in the unofficial tally released by Township Clerk Elizabeth Fritzen.
No candidates ran in the Republican primary.
June 4 was also the deadline to file with the Essex County Clerk to run as an unaffiliated candidate for the Township Committee. According to staff at the County Clerk’s office, no candidate filed to run.
The general election will be held on November 5, 2019.
