South Orange Trustee Deborah Davis Ford posted an intriguing video on Facebook today (see below). In it, she announced that she will be making a “special announcement” on January 17 at 7 p.m. at Bunny’s Restaurant in South Orange.
Davis Ford could be announcing her run for re-election as Village Trustee.
Or she could be announcing that she will run for Village President — a move that has long been speculated upon by those who watch South Orange politics closely.
Both offices are up for election this year on May 14. Trustees Howard Levison and Mark Rosner’s seats are also up for election; neither man has announced his re-election bid as yet. (Village Green has reached out to both today to inquire.)
Village President Sheena Collum will be nearing the end of her first term and confirmed for Village Green that she is running for re-election as Village President.
When asked if she would confirm or deny that she is running for VP, Davis Ford told Village Green to “wait to the 17th.”
In her FB video, Davis Ford, seated next to a copy of former First Lady Michelle Obama’s memoir “Becoming,” invited viewers to the “special announcement” and stated:
“Join me to hear about the advancements being made along with my vision for the future of the Township of South Orange. I would love to hear your stories about how we can make our home a better place. So come meet me on the 17th at Bunny’s and I’ll see you then!”
