South Orange Middle School Science teacher Stephen Baer spotted a bald eagle early on Wednesday morning week in the school parking lot and took a video of it as it sat on atop pole and then flew away.

“It was early in the morning, during 1st period. The students usually take a walk around the pond at the start of each gym class to warm up. I usually take a morning walk before my first class,” he told The Village Green. “As the students went back into the gym I walked to the back entrance of the school and it was sitting on top of a pole in the parking lot. I took a few quick pictures then made the video. It flew over the pond, circled a few times and then flew off up the hill across from the school. I’ve worked at the school for 10 years and I’ve never seen a bald eagle here before.”

Baer, who is not on social media, shared the video with The Village Green in hopes of learning if there have been any other sightings or if anyone knows where it might be nesting.
