The Millburn Board of Education’s new ad hoc committee on Health & Wellness, chaired by Board of Education President, Emily Jaffe, is hosting a community-wide forum on February 15 at 7 p.m. at Hartshorn School, 400 Hartshorn Drive, Short Hills.

For planning purposes, please click the link to RSVP:  Health & Wellness RSVP. For questions or information, please email Nancy Dries at nancy.dries@millburn.org. Additionally, the district has created a Health & Wellness website with information and resources that will be updated as this critical initiative gets underway.

Forum participants will:

  • Help define the heath and wellness needs in our community
  • Hear from George Scott, Ed.S., a family therapist and behavioral health expert who will provide information about the stresses on students and families today.
  • Participate in a small group that will focus on one of the areas of concern, to assist the district in providing concrete solutions to address the priorities.

After several planning meetings, the committee has drafted a mission statement for the committee to guide its work:

The Health & Wellness Committee has been formed to define what a healthy school district looks like; to highlight all of the good work that exists to move the district in that direction; and to identify the gaps and needs that can be promoted to achieve the ultimate goal of raising healthy and accomplished students.

All community members are invited to attend this forum to provide input as the school district and Board of Education take action to address concerns about the health and wellness of our entire school community – students, staff and parents.  All are welcome, so the district can hear from a broad range of perspectives current and past parents, grandparents, teachers, community leaders and residents.
