From the Achieve Foundation of South Orange and Maplewood:
The Achieve Foundation of South Orange and Maplewood has extended the deadline for Direct Teacher Grant Funding through February 5. Contributions are welcome to help satisfy approved grant requests from teachers at all grade levels.
Achieve received applications for 115 classroom grants from teachers at all schools in response to its annual request for proposals in the fall. Educators sought funds to pay for great new ideas for extending the learning experience in all subject areas. The foundation awarded $64,000 to cover 69 of those projects, fully or partially, with funds budgeted for this year’s grants, leaving many worthy proposals still awaiting funding.
The community can help to fulfill teachers’ wishes by contributing to grant project(s) of their choice. Here are just a few examples of projects still available: a STEAM lab or garden project at Seth Boyden, keyboards for vocal students and a genetic engineering competition at CHS, “Poetry Grammys” and a painted pathway at MMS, physical education projects at Tuscan, flexible seating at several schools and the first-ever STEAM Arts Classroom at SOMS.
