Armed Robbery at Irvington Avenue Gas Station

The Delta Gas Station on Irvington Avenue was robbed Monday by two men wearing ski masks and brandishing handguns, said South Orange Police Chief James Chelel.

An employee reported that at roughly 10:40 p.m., two men came running from Tichenor Avenue and robbed him of the money he had in his pocket, Chelel said. The men then fled south on Tichenor.

The only description the victim could give police was that one man was tall and heavy set and the other short and skinny. Police searched the area but could not find the men, said Chelel. The Union police stopped two men later that night who possibly matched the descriptions, but the victim was unable to positively identify them.

Burglary
A worker at the construction site at Valley Street and Third Street reported that sometime between 5:00 pm Tuesday, 9-30-14 and 6:50 am Wednesday, 10-01-14 actor(s) unknown gained entry into an enclosed and locked trailer and removed several thousand dollars worth of power tools. It appears the actor(s) damaged the trailer as well as part of the fence that surrounds the perimeter of the site when entry was gained. The Detective Bureau is investigating the incident.

Burglary to Auto / Theft

A Radel Terrace resident reported that between the hours of midnight and 5:00 am on Monday, 9/29/14 that actor(s) unknown removed two “Ponderosa” brand mountain bikes from her vehicle (2007 Chrysler), which was parked in the victim’s driveway at the time. One of the bicycles is white and orange in color and the other is white, blue and black. There were no signs of forced entry to the vehicle.

Burglary to Garage
An Irvington Avenue resident reported that sometime between the hours of 10:00 pm Sunday, 9-28-14 and 6:30 am Monday, 9-29-14 actor(s) unknown entered his garage and removed a bicycle. The bicycle was found nearby on a neighbor’s lawn and nothing else appears to be missing from the garage. The Detective Bureau is investigating the incident.
