Attendant Assaulted in Armed Robbery of Maplewood Gas Station, Police Say

An attendant was injured in an armed robbery at the 66 Gas Station on Springfield Avenue on Sunday, May 19, at around 4:40 a.m., said Lt. Christopher Black of the Maplewood Police Department.

A man wearing a mask approached the gas attendant, displayed a handgun, demanded money and struck the attendant, Black said.  The man then fled on foot with the money.  Officers responded and checked the area, but were unable to locate him.

EMS evaluated the attendant, but he refused medical attention.  The investigation is ongoing.
