Attendant Reports Sunday Afternoon Armed Robbery at Maplewood WaWa

The following is from the Maplewood Police Department:

On June 2 at approximately 1:44 p.m., officers were dispatched to the WaWa located at 1511 Springfield Avenue for a report of a robbery. Upon arrival, a gas station attendant reported that while he was in the booth putting money in the register, he observed individuals standing at the doorway to the booth. The attendant reported one of the individuals entered the booth, displayed a handgun and ordered the attendant to open the register drawer. The attendant complied and the second then entered and held the attendant in the corner of the booth. Once the money was removed from the register, the actors fled toward Chancellor Avenue.

The attendant described the actors both as black males approximately 5’10” with thin builds wearing black hooded sweatshirts with the hoods pulled and their faces covered. Both males were reported to possibly be in their early to mid twenties. No injuries were reported.

The incident is currently under investigation. No additional information is available at this time.
