Car Crashes into Short Hills Tennis Club Wednesday

A woman driving on Short Hills Avenue Wednesday accidentally hit the accelerator and crashed into the Racquets Club building on Hobart Avenue, police said.

The driver hit the accelerator while traveling north on Short Hills Avenue at the Crescent, sending the vehicle through the parking lot, through a wooden fence and eventually stopping as it struck The Racquets, said Capt. Michael Mulligan.

The driver, a senior resident of the township, was treated for minor injuries at the site, according to a report on NorthJersey.com. The car hit the pool’s filtration system filled with chlorine, causing a hazmat situation, said the report.

The accident is under investigation.
