Authorities have determined that a 76-year-old woman found dead on the roadway near Chatham and Woodlawn roads in Millburn was killed as a result of a hit-and-run and are seeking the public’s help in their investigation.
According to a release from Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, and Millburn Police Chief Brian Gilfedder yesterday, when Lynne Crow’s body was discovered in the roadway on Jan. 8, “Initially, it was thought she suffered a medical episode. The victim was transported to Morristown Memorial Hospital, where the treating physician informed police that it appeared she had sustained injuries consistent with being hit by a motor vehicle.”
The release continued, “Following an autopsy by the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office it was determined she died from blunt force trauma consistent with being hit by a motor vehicle. Consequently, the matter is being investigated by the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office as a vehicular homicide.”
No suspects have been identified at this time, according to the ECPO.
