Maplewood Police Recover Five Stolen Bikes

Reporting that stolen bicycle can pay off.

This week, Maplewood police recovered five stolen bicycles: One that was stolen from the front of a Henry Place residence on Thursday afternoon, and four that were stolen in the early morning hours on the west side of Maplewood.

August 11, 2014; Burglary;  A home on Woodhill Drive was entered during the previous afternoon and a laptop and jewelry are reported stolen.

August 12, 2014; Theft from Autos; During the overnight hours, a vehicle on Concord Ave, Ohio St and Park Ave were entered. All three vehicles were left unlocked.  Change and a cell phone were reported stolen.

August 13, 2014; Motor vehicle theft; Sometime over the last three weeks a Dodge Caravan was stolen from the CP&P parking lot located on Burnett Ave.  The vehicle was recovered in Bethlehem, PA.

August 14, 2014; Bicycle Theft;  A bicycle left on the front lawn of a Boyden Ave residence was stolen at approximately 1 p.m.

August 14, 2014; Bicycle Theft;  A bicycle left in  the front of a Henry Place residence was stolen at approximately 3:45 p.m.  Officers responding to the call located a male riding the bicycle.  The 17 year old from Irvington was arrested for being in possession of stolen property.  The bicycle was return to it’s owner.

August 15, 2014; Burglary; A home on Oakland Rd was entered during the overnight hours.  A purse and several pieces of electronics were stolen from the first floor.

August 16, 2014; Bicycle Thefts; During the overnight hours several bicycles were stolen from streets on the West side of town.  At approximately 2:45 a.m., two juveniles and an adult, Javon Brooks all of Irvington were stopped on Maplewood Ave.  Investigation on scene led to their arrest for bicycle theft and the recovery of four bicycles.

August 16, 2014; Motor vehicle theft; Between 1:30 and 4 p.m. a Chevy Monte Carlo was stolen from in front of an Elmwood Ave residence.

August 18, 2014; Robbery; At approximately 9 a.m., officers responded to 7-Eleven on Springfield Ave for a reported shoplifting.  Once on scene it was determined that the shoplifter had pushed a clerk while fleeing making it a robbery.  Officers searched the area and were able to locate 46 year old Dale Jackson of Elizabeth.  He was taken into custody and charged with the robbery as well as prior shoplifting at the same store.
