Man Robbed by Teens Brandishing Handgun in South Orange

A man was robbed at gunpoint by two men on Fairview Avenue on August 9, according to the South Orange Police blotter.

The man said he was walking and using his cell phone at around 8:35 p.m. when he was approached by two young men riding bicycles. The two demanded his phone while pointing a handgun at him, according to police. After the man handed over his phone, the two fled north on their bicycles towards South Orange Ave. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate anyone matching the description. The Detective Bureau is investigating the incident.

Trespassing/arrest
Percell Daniels, a 46 year old East Orange resident was arrested on 8-13-15 at approximately 9:40am after he was observed by a witness entering the rear property of a dwelling located on Kingman Rd. Responding officers located the subject fleeing the scene on foot two blocks away. Found on the subject during the arrest were tools commonly used to assist in committing burglaries to both vehicles and residences.

Attempted theft/arrest
A 17 year old juvenile resident of Passaic was arrested on 8-12-15 at approximately 3:15pm after a witnessed observed the juvenile attempting to remove a bicycle from the bike rack located under the train bridge on South Orange Ave. The juvenile was with two other actors that were observed to be in possession of tools to cut the chains and locks to the bicycles. The actors were observed to be concealing the tools in a backpack. The Detective Bureau is investigating the thefts as a vehicle (possibly a van) may be involved also as a mode of transportation to and from the site of the thefts.

Theft of bicycle
A South Orange resident stated that he had locked his red Vilano bicycle to the bike rack at the main train station on 8-13-15 at approximately 10:30am and when he returned to it at 10:00pm he discovered it had been stolen.

Trespassing arrest
A juvenile from East Orange was taken into custody on 8-13-15 at approximately 2:24pm after the juvenile was observed on private property of a residence complex located on West South Orange Ave. The juvenile was observed by a witness on the private property attempting to remove a bicycle from the complex’s bicycle rack.

Theft of bicycle
A South Orange resident stated that on 8-10-15 at approximately 10:30am he chained his silver Diamondback bicycle to the bike rack at the main train station on Sloan St. and when he returned to it at 7:40pm he discovered it had been stolen.

8/10/2015
Criminal mischief
An owner of an establishment located on Scotland Rd. stated that between 8-7-15 and 8-8-15 an unknown actor(s) had spray painted graffiti on his store and along an adjacent walkway.

DWI/arrest

Dana Margotta, a 34 year old West Orange resident was arrested on 8-8-15 at approximately 12:30am after it was discovered that she was operating a motor vehicle while under the influence while in the area of the entrance to Seton Hall University. The subject was arrested at the scene without incident, transported to police headquarters and processed accordingly.

Theft
A West Orange resident stated that she was in a bank located on South Orange Ave. on 8-8-15 at approximately noon when she discovered she left an envelope of cash on a bench inside of same while talking to a teller. When the victim returned to it a few seconds later she discovered it had been stolen.
