Maplewood Avenue is now reopened after being closed this afternoon when a contractor hit a gas line in front of 171 Maplewood Avenue around 3 p.m..
Maplewood Fire Chief Michael Dingelstedt reported at 3:33 p.m., “PSE&G is on the scene making repairs. Gas was shut to 171 and 173 Maplewood Ave. and Kim’s Nails was evacuated as a precaution until repairs are complete. The fire department will remain on the scene until released by PSE&G.”
At 5:01 p.m., Maplewood Police reported, “Due to a Gas line Break ,the South Bound lane of Maplewood Ave will be closed from Baker St to Inwood Pl. Detours are in place..”
At 6:58 p.m. Maplewood Police sent the message, “Maplewood Ave is open for traffic.”
