Maplewood Police Arrest 2 on Prostitution-Related Charges at Millburn Ave ‘Health Club’

  • The Maplewood Police arrested two people on prostitution-related charges during an undercover investigation at TWC Health Club at 2168 Millburn Avenue on July 10.

Acting on complaints from the public “about possible prostitution and human trafficking,” the police conducted the investigation with an officer entering the establishment undercover. Police report that the officer was then “propositioned with sexual acts in exchange for monetary funds.”

Officers on standby then entered the club and detained five people for “investigative purposes,” arresting two.

Those arrested were:

  • Daniel Fainman, 28, of Manalapan, charged with Promoting Prostitution, and
  • Abidemi Roberts, 28, of Clifton, charged with prostitution for monetary funds.

Maplewood police stated in a release, “At this time the investigation has not revealed an evidence of human trafficking and the investigation is ongoing. The investigation has revealed that the business was operating without a license.”

Speculation about the health club has been ongoing in the community for months. The TWC Health Club Facebook page appears unambiguous in its mission with photos of young scantily clad models accompanied by text such as, “Our beautiful ladies – call [xxx-xxx-xxxx].”
