A 54 year-old man walking on Springfield Avenue on May 11 at around 7 p.m. was approached by a 17-year-old girl who tried to take his phone and punched him, said Sgt. Christopher Black of the Maplewood Police Department. When she was unsuccessful in getting the phone, a group of three men, ages 16, 17 and 20, began running towards the man, who ran across the street and called the police, said Black.
