Maplewood Police Arrest Two Youths in Thefts from Autos

Maplewood police arrested 18-year-old Alshadeem Greene and a 16-year-old, both from Newark, and charged them in a spate of thefts from cars during the overnight hours of Friday, Sept. 11. Items were allegedly stolen from unlocked vehicles on William St, Woodside Rd and Elmwood Ave, said Sgt. Christopher Black. Green and the teenager were stopped and identified as being responsible for the thefts, Black said.

September 9, 2015; Thefts from Autos; During the overnight hours several unlocked vehicles were entered. Two vehicles on Oberlin St, one on Wellesley St and two on Franklin Ave. Items including change, tools, credit cards, a check book and tools were stolen from the vehicles.

September 9, 2015; Bicycle Theft; During the overnight hours, a bicycle was stolen from the porch of a Wellesley St home.

September 9, 2015; Motor Vehicle Theft; During the overnight hours a Toyota Camry was stolen from a parking lot on Meadowbrook Pl. The vehicle was later recovered in Irvington.

September 11, 2015; Bicycle Theft; During the daytime hours a bicycle that was locked at the train station was stolen.

September 12, 2015; Theft from Autos; During the overnight hours two vehicles parked on New England Rd were entered. Both vehicles were left unsecured and had several items stolen from them.
