Maplewood Police: Multiple Package Thefts, Shoplifting Reported in November

The following is from the Maplewood Police Dept.:

November 13, 2018; Theft from Auto; An unsecured vehicle parked in a lot on Springfield Ave between 7:45 and 8:45 PM, was entered and a tablet and lottery tickets were stolen.

November 13, 2018; Shoplifting; At approximately 5:30 PM a male exited the Walgreens with several containers of baby formula and fled without paying for the items.

November 17, 2018; Shoplifting; At approximately 8:30 PM a male exited the Walgreens with several items that he did not pay for.  Officer located the male later identified as 25 year old Prince Hobson of Irvington a short distance away and stopped him.  He was found to be in possession of the stolen items and was taken into custody and charged with shoplifting.

November 18, 2018; Theft from Auto; Between 5 and 10 PM, an unsecured vehicle parked on Richmond Ave was entered and documents were taken from the vehicle.

November 18, 2018; Package Theft; A package was taken sometime over the previous two days from a home on the 300 block of Boyden Ave.

November 18, 2018; Shoplifting; At approximately 7 PM, officers responded to the Extra Supermarket on Irvington Ave.  Ethel Motley, age 41 of Newark was arrested after she was witnessed putting shrimp inside of her purse.  She was charged with shoplifting and released.

November 20, 2018; Package Theft; A resident of Hughes St reported that a package was stolen from their home.

November 21, 2018; Bicycle Thefts; At approximately 1:45 PM, two males were observed removing bicycles from an unsecured garage on the 200 block of Parker Ave.

November 24, 2018; Package Theft; At approximately 1 PM, a resident of Harding St observed a male taking his neighbor’s package and contacted the police department.  The male later identified as 52 year old, David Pascavage of Irvington was located a short distance away with the proceeds.  He was taken into custody and charged with the theft and later transported to the county jail on an outstanding warrant from a prior package theft incident.

November 25, 2018; Shoplifting; At approximately 4 PM, officers responded to the extra supermarket on Irvington Ave on a reported shoplifter.  Upon their arrival, Chiatia Halsey, age 26 of Newark was taken into custody after she was witnessed concealing salmon inside of her purse.
