Maplewood Police arrested a Morristown man on an eastbound NJ Transit train on Monday evening after police say he failed to comply with police orders to behave in an orderly fashion. The man was arrested and charged with improper behavior.

Maplewood Police were called to the Maplewood train station by NJ Transit at 7:28 p.m. when NJT reported a large group of disorderly juveniles on the train. The high school-aged males and females were traveling to Newark Broad Street station and were engaged in throwing bottles, using excessive foul language and engaging in an exchange of words with individuals from rival schools, according to a police report. Police did not name the schools involved.

South Orange police and NJ Transit police also boarded the train and assisted the MPD in restoring order. The group complied with the police directives, with the exception of the Morristown man. The train then continued to its destination with NJT police on board.
