Three masked men with handguns robbed Panda Kitchen in Maplewood on Sunday night, ordering four people — including an 8-year-old boy — to the ground, police said. Only minor injuries were reported.
At around 9:26 pm, the three entered the store on Parker Avenue and drew their weapons, ordering two employees, their 8-year-old son, and a 66-year-old male customer to the ground, according to Police Chief Jim DeVaul. One of the robbers allegedly slammed the customer to the ground and removed his personal belongings from his pocket.
The three then took $400 in cash from the register and an Apple iPad from behind the counter, DeVaul said.
The victims reported minor injuries and all refused medical attention from the Maplewood Fire Department and EMS.
Public safety cameras show the car used by the suspects was a dark colored older model Chevy Impala, last seen heading east on Irvington Ave. and making a right on Franklin Terrace, said DeVaul.
Detectives are investigating the incident.
