South Orange Police Arrest Five Youths for Alleged Racially-Charged Assault on Family

South Orange Police arrested 18-year-old Quazir Hill and four juveniles, all Orange residents, on Monday and charged them with assault and bias.

According to police, at 7:00 p.m. a man was walking in the Village with his two adolescent children when the five teens allegedly began making racial slurs to them while blocking their passage on the sidewalk. The man said the five allegedly assaulted one of his children by throwing an object at his head and pulling his hair, police report. Officers caught the five as they were attempting to run north on Vose Ave. Two other suspects avoided being caught by police.
