The Quick Chek on Springfield Avenue was hit by a robbery on Saturday at approximately 1:30 a.m., said Sgt. Christopher Black of the Maplewood Police Department.

A man wearing a hat and partial face mask entered the store and passed a note to the clerk demanding the clerk empty the drawers into a bag; he then ran away with the cash, Black said. The man implied he had a weapon by grabbing his waist band, but the clerk didn’t see any weapon, said Black. The alleged robber is described as a light-skinned black man believed to be in his late teens or early 20’s. No one was injured.
