South Orange Man Robbed at Gunpoint on Valley Street, Police Say

A South Orange man was robbed at gunpoint and struck in the face on Valley Street on Saturday night, according to authorities.

The man said at around 9:55 p.m. he was walking on Valley St. near First St. when he was approached by a man who showed a black colored handgun and demanded his wallet, said police. The man then struck him in the face, injuring his nose, and ran away.

The South Orange resident described the man as black, 6′-0″, medium build, unshaven and wearing a denim jacket over a navy blue hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and white sneakers, police said.

The Detective Bureau is investigating the incident.
