South Orange Police Arrest East Orange Woman in Cell Phone Theft

South Orange Police arrested 27-year old East Orange resident Latasha Washington on Thursday at around noon after detectives discovered she was allegedly involved in the theft of a cell phone from a woman walking on Ward Pl. on February 20, police said. The investigation revealed that Washington was allegedly operating the getaway vehicle involved in the incident, said police, who charged her with theft and processed her.

3/7/2016
Theft/Criminal mischief
A resident of an apartment complex located on Valley St. stated that on 3-3-16 at approximately 12:30pm he observed several male actors damaging the lock box at the complex and removing items. There was no further description of the actors at the time of the report.

 

DWI/arrest
Carlos Barreto, a 44 year old Nashville Tn. resident was arrested on 3-1-16 at approximately 2:43am after he was stopped for committing a motor vehicle violation on Irvington Ave. During the subsequent stop it was determined by the officer on the scene that the subject had been operating his vehicle while under the influence. The subject was arrested at the scene without incident, transported to police headquarters and processed accordingly.

Theft
A resident of an apartment complex on West Third St. stated that a package of an I-phone was supposedly dropped off by UPS sometime on Tuesday 3-1-16 yet she never received it.

Burglary Warrant Arrest
Ebon Hodge a 28 year old Irvington resident was charged for a prior burglary and theft that had occurred to a dwelling on So. Centre St. after Detectives discovered that forensic evidence recovered at the scene matched the suspect and as a result he was charged accordingly. The suspect is currently being held in the Essex County jail for unrelated charges.

CDS arrest/juvenile
A 17 year old male juvenile from South Orange was arrested on 3-4-16 at approximately 11:58pm after he was stopped for a motor vehicle violation on Glenview Rd. and during the subsequent stop the officer on scene discovered the subject to be in possession of CDS (marijuana). The juvenile was taken into custody at the scene, transported to police headquarters, processed accordingly for the offense and released to a parent.

Theft
A security officer stated that on 3-4-16 at approximately 5:55am he observed a vehicle fleeing the apartment complex located on Third St with a washer and dryer in the rear of same. The Detective Bureau is investigating the incident.

Trespass/Arrest
Diolackson Victor, a 24 year old Orange resident was arrested on 3-4-16 at approximately 11:00am after a resident on Warwick Ave. called the police department and stated that she observed an unknown actor with a backpack dressed in a dark hooded sweatshirt walking around her neighbor’s residence. Officers responded to the scene and a Detective on foot surveillance discovered the subject peering into the rear windows of a dwelling located on Montrose Ave. The subject then upon seeing the detective fled the scene on foot where he was apprehended by several officers after a brief foot pursuit through several yards. The subject was transported to police headquarters after his arrest and processed accordingly.

2/29/2016
Warrant arrest
Naim Koonce, a 25 year old Orange resident was arrested on 2-25-16 at approximately 3:10am after an officer on routine patrol discovered the subject to be in a township park after dark in violation of a Village ordinance which forbids same. During the on-scene inquiry it was discovered that the subject had an outstanding warrant issued for his arrest out of Hazlet NJ. The subject was arrested at the scene, transported to police headquarters and processed accordingly.

Theft from vehicle
A Crest Dr. resident stated that sometime during the evening or overnight hours of 2-26-16 an unknown actor(s) had entered his unlocked vehicle (2015 Ford) and removed loose change and a pair of sunglasses along with a pair of prescription eye glasses. The vehicle was parked in the driveway at the time of the incident.

Theft of books/arrest
Kurt Richardson, a 45 year old East Orange resident was arrested on 2-26-16 at approximately 12:10pm after it was discovered by Detectives with the assistance of SHU security personnel that he was responsible for removing several books from the campus of Seton Hall University. The subject was arrested for the offense and charged accordingly.

Theft of cell phone
A student at the Middle School stated that sometime between 2:20pm on 2-23-16 and 3:05pm on 2-26-16 an unknown actor(s) had his I-phone removed from his unlocked locker in the boys locker room.

Criminal Mischief
A Manager of an apartment complex located on South Orange Ave. stated that sometime during the evening or overnight hours of 2-25-16 an unknown actor(s) had smashed the glass to the front lobby door.

Warrant arrest

Hakeem Love, a South Orange resident was arrested on 2-26-16 after officers responded to the area of Starbucks on Sloan St. on a call of an individual aggressively panhandling. During the on-scene investigation it was discovered that the subject had an outstanding warrant issued for his arrest out of the city of Newark. The subject was arrested at the scene transported to police headquarters and processed accordingly.
