South Orange Police Arrest Woman for Shoplifting at Rite Aid

South Orange Police arrested a 41-year-old Newark woman Monday for allegedly shoplifting from the Rite Aid on South Orange Avenue, according to the blotter.

Police arrested Keshonda Ballamy at around 5:30 p.m. after reports that she had just shoplifted from the store, police said. Officers caught Ballamy a short distance from the store as she was attempting to run away, said police. Ballamy was arrested, taken to police headquarters and processed.

9/15/14
Theft of cell phone

An employee at a restaurant in the center of town stated that on 9-13-14 at approximately 3:45pm she had left her I-phone on a dining table and when she returned to it a short time later she discovered it had been stolen.

9/13/2014
Theft from garage
A Vose Ave. resident stated that sometime during the evening or overnight hours of 9-10-14 an unknown actor(s) had entered her open garage and removed a black Gudereit Mountain Bike and a GPS unit from her vehicle which was parked in the garage.

Theft
A Newark resident stated that on 9-11-14 at approximately 3:00pm he was in Grove Park when he placed his I-phone on a bench to play and when he returned to same a short time later he discovered it had been stolen.

9/10/2014
CDS/arrest
Joseph Ashton, a 23 year old Bloomfield resident was arrested on 9-9-14 at approximately 10:10pm after an officer on routine patrol conducted a motor vehicle stop on Park Pl. During the field inquiry it was discovered that the subject was in possession of CDS (marijuana). The subject was arrested at the scene without incident, transported to police headquarters and processed accordingly.

9/8/2014
Assault
A Newark resident stated that on 9-7-14 at approximately 9:00pm he was in a restaurant located on Irvington Ave. when he got into an argument with another patron. The victim stated that the subject struck him in his face and fled the scene in a black Dodge pick-up.

Criminal mischief
Three juvenile residents of Newark were arrested on 9-6-14 at approximately 9:50pm after it was discovered that they had thrown rocks at two vehicles parked on Elm Ct. breaking the windows to same. The juveniles were arrested a short distance from the scene, transported to police headquarters and processed accordingly.

Theft
A Page Terr. resident stated that sometime between midnight on 9-5-14 and 3:30pm on 9-6-14 an unknown actor(s) had removed a 15 foot drain pipe from the side of his residence.

Theft of bicycle
A Walton Rd. resident stated that sometime between 6:30pm on 9-5-14 and 7:00am on 9-6-14 an unknown actor(s) had removed a bicycle described as being gray with blue handle bars from his front porch.
