South Orange Police Investigate Report of Criminal Sexual Conduct Against Girl

The girl was grabbed while jogging with friends in the morning at Farrell Field; the man then fled.

South Orange Police are seeking a man who reportedly grabbed a girl’s buttocks while she was jogging near Farrell Field in December.

According the police blotter, the girls was jogging with friends on December 9 at around 10:30 a.m. when a man reportedly ran up behind her and grabbed her buttocks, before running away north on Walton Avenue.

Criminal Sexual Contact
The South Orange Police Department is currently investigating a report of criminal sexual contact. A juvenile victim reported that she was jogging with friends in the area of Farrell Field at approximately 10:30 am when an actor who was described as a white male in his late teens to early twenties wearing white pants and a black hooded sweatshirt ran up from behind her and grabbed her buttocks. Immediately following the assault the actor fled on foot and was last seen running north on Walton Ave. Anyone who has any information concerning this incident is asked to contact Detective Hipolito Felix at (973) 763-3000 ext. 7795 or by email at hfelix@southorange.org

Last Wednesday, Lt. Det. Joseph Levanda told Village Green, the incident is still under investigation.

“We have been following up on all leads, which includes statements from the victim and witnesses, review of security camera footage, and attempting to identify any similar incidents in neighboring jurisdictions,” wrote Levanda. “We ask that anyone who has information concerning this incident please contact Detective Felix.”
