South Orange Police: Man Robbed, Assaulted by Four on Centre Street

An East Orange man was allegedly assaulted by four men who knocked him to the ground and took his cell phone on Centre Street on June 5, South Orange Police said.

The man said at around 5:45 p.m. he was walking near the VA hospital when four men he described as dark-skinned black men in their late teens, struck him from behind and took his cell phone, said police. The four ran away north toward the city of Orange.

Officers searched the area and surrounding streets but did not locate the man. The Detective Bureau is investigating the incident.
