Three Vehicles Stolen in SO This Week

A Nissan, a Saab and a 1997 Chevy went missing in South Orange this past week. The Nissan was involved in a pursuit and crash in Union County. Police are investigating.

7/15/2014 to 7/29/2014

7/25/2014
Theft from vehicle
A Glenside Rd. resident stated that sometime between 8:00pm and 10:00pm on 7-24-14 an unknown actor(s) had entered her vehicle (2009 Honda) which was parked in the driveway and removed a pocketbook which was later recovered and a set of car keys.

 

Theft from vehicles7/24/2014
Two vehicles that were parked in a housing complex on West Third St. were ransacked and items consisting of a GPS and miscellaneous papers were stolen.

 

Theft from vehicle
A So. Ridgewood Rd. resident stated that sometime between 2:00pm on 7-23-14 and 9:00am on 7-24-14 an unknown actor(s) had entered his vehicle (2008 Nissan) and removed a small amount of change and the registration and insurance documents. There were no signs of a forced entry and the vehicle was parked in the driveway at the time of the incident.

 

Theft of vehicle
A West Third St. resident stated that sometime between 9:00pm on 7-22-14 and 8:00am on 7-24-14 an unknown actor(s) had entered the interior parking garage of his housing complex located on West Third St. and removed his vehicle (1997 Chevy). The doors were left unlocked to the vehicle and the keys to same were left inside the console. The Detective Bureau is investigating the incident.

 

Burglary to vehicle
A Warren Ct. resident stated that sometime between 6:00am on 7-23-14 and 9:45am on 7-24-14 an unknown actor(s) had entered her vehicle (2008 Honda)and ransacked the interior. No items were removed and the vehicle was parked in the driveway at the time of the incident.

 

Theft of vehicle
A South Orange resident stated that on 7-24-14 at approximately 6:00am while getting ready to board a train at the main train station he had dropped his car key and didn’t realize he had done so until he returned to his vehicle (2008 Saab) at 8:00pm. Upon approaching the transit lot where he had parked his vehicle he discovered it had been stolen.

 

Criminal mischief
An Irvington Ave. resident stated that sometime between noon and 4:00pm on 7-23-14 an unknown actor(s) had broken the rear driver’s side window to his vehicle (2009 Honda). The vehicle was parked in the victim’s driveway at the time of the incident.

 

7/23/2014
Theft from vehicle
A Marion Ave. resident stated that sometime between midnight and 2:30am on 7-22-14 an unknown actor(s) had entered his Toyota and Honda which were parked in the driveway and removed an old cell phone, an electric keyboard and a camera. There were no signs of damage to either vehicle.

 

Theft of vehicle
A Holland Rd. resident had her vehicle (1996 Nissan) removed from her driveway sometime after 8:00pm on 7-21-14 and became aware of same after SOPD notified her that her vehicle had been involved in a pursuit and vehicle crash in Union county a short time later. The investigation is continuing at this time.

 

Burglary to dwelling/arrests
Two juveniles a male and female age 15 and 16 from South Orange were arrested on 7/22/14 at approximately 10:00am after a witness observed the subjects climbing through a side window to a residence on Academy St. The actors had placed a bucket under the window to gain entry. Responding Officers secured the dwelling and upon entry apprehended both juveniles inside of same without further incident. Both juveniles were transported to police headquarters processed accordingly and remanded to the Essex County Youth facility in Newark.

 

Hindering/arrest
Nehemiah Henderson, a 28 year old South Orange resident was arrested on 7/22/14 at approximately 5:30pm after a Detective discovered the subject had given false information as to his identity during an ongoing investigation. The subject was arrested for the offense and processed accordingly. The Detective Bureau is continuing the investigation at this time.

 

7/21/2014
Theft of bicycle
A Turrell Ave. resident stated that on 7/11/14 at approximately midnight he observed a group of juveniles described as four black males enter his neighbor’s yard and remove a red Diamondback bicycle and flee from same. Responding officers canvassed the area for the juveniles with negative results.

 

Burglary to school
Sometime between 7/11/14 and 7/14/14 an unknown actor(s) had broken a door window located at the South Mountain Annex school and entered same. No items were removed from the school during the incident. The Detective Bureau is investigating the incident.

 

Criminal mischief
An East Orange resident stated that sometime between 11:00am and 6:00pm on 7/11/14 an unknown actor had poured an unknown substance into her gas tank causing damage to her vehicle (2014 Honda). The vehicle was parked on South Orange Ave. adjacent to Fairview Ave. at the time of the incident. The victim stated that this was not the first time this incident had occurred. The Detective Bureau is investigating the incident.

 

Theft
A Mountain Dr. resident stated that sometime between 11:00am and 6:30pm on 7/16/14 an unknown actor(s) removed an art piece made of copper from his front lawn. The victim stated the item is valued at approximately $3,000.

 

DWI/arrest
Keith Julien, a 55 year old Irvington resident was arrested on 7/18/14 at approximately 9:20pm after Officers responded to a call of a subject asleep behind the wheel of a vehicle at the intersection of Centre St. and South Orange Ave. During the on-scene investigation it was discovered by the officers that the subject was intoxicated and as a result was arrested at the scene, transported to police headquarters and processed accordingly.

 

Criminal mischief
A Varsity Rd. resident stated that on 7/16/14 at approximately 10:15pm two unknown actors described as black males were observed lighting a fire on the hood of a vehicle (1997 Chevy) which was parked on the street. Officers responding to the call canvassed the area for the two actors but were unable to locate same. The fire department responded to the scene and extinguished the fire.

 

Criminal mischief
A West South Orange Ave. resident stated that sometime during the overnight hours of 7-14-14 an unknown actor(s) had attempted to gain entry into his vehicle (2002 Dodge) by prying the rear passenger’s window and door. Entry was not gained. the vehicle was parked in the victim’s driveway at the time of the incident.

 

Theft
A South Orange resident stated that on 7/15/14 at approximately 10:10am he had left his Kindle on an outside table adjacent to a restaurant on South Orange Ave. and when he returned to it a few minutes later he discovered it had been stolen.

 

Theft
A Village employee stated that he was doing landscaping work in the area of Valley St. when an unknown actor removed a leaf blower from the back of the township pick-up truck.

 

Theft from vehicle
A Vose Ave. resident stated that sometime during the overnight hours of 7/17/14 an unknown actor(s) had entered her unlocked vehicle (2012 Ford) and removed several CD’s, some coins and a personal check. The vehicle was parked in the driveway at the time of the incident.
