CHS Robotics Says Farewell to Allan Tumolillo Upon His Retirement

From CHS Robotics:

Mr. T — aka Allan Tumolillo

Columbia High School Robotics teams bid a fond farewell to Mr. T (Allan Tumolillo), their teacher, mentor and club advisor at a banquet at Libretti’s Restaurant on May 28. In a testament of how much he is loved and respected, not only did current robotics team members and families attend the event but also many alumni and alumni parents from the first teams in 2011 to the most recent from 2018. Overall, over 90 people attended the banquet.

During his tenure as the robotics coach and mentor, Mr. T led three teams to the World Championships and numerous teams to the New Jersey State Championships, including the sophomore, junior and senior teams this year. One CHS team took second place at World’s and another made it to the semifinals under his leadership.

Several current and alumni team members and parents spoke during the evening, with CHS Principal Dr. Morgan speaking as well. Mr. T’s dedication to the team was brought up several times including his encouragement of team members to problem solve on their own and learn from their failures, and as a result improve their designs throughout the competition season.
