‘Every Hero Has a Story’ at SOMA Library Summer Reading Clubs

The Maplewood and South Orange Public Libraries have both launched their “Every Hero Has a Story” summer reading clubs for children. Here is what you need to know:

Maplewood Memorial Library

The Summer Reading Club offers programs, activities, and reading incentives. Prizes will be given during the following hours from July 6-Aug 21.

AT MAIN LIBRARY

Mon – Fri: 10:00-11:30am
Mon – Fri: 3:00-4:15pm
Mon & Wed: 6:30-8:30pm
Sat: 10:30-12:00

AT HILTON BRANCH

Come to Hilton daily & get a prize for reading in the Library, or attending a program.

South Orange Public Library 

Pick up a reading log and start reading! Sign-Up continues throughout the summer. Read here for more information and suggested reading lists.

This year’s theme is “Every Hero Has a Story” and will feature great programs, events, book lists and displays all summer long. Keep a reading log and earn prizes.

Enjoy the library’s ever expanding collection of materials available for check out, including audiobooks, movies, themed goodie bags (great for road trips), museum passes and tablets for kids. Activities include storytimes, a playhouse, puppets, puzzles and friendly fish.

Celebrate Reading Day Monday August 10 with Games, Hula Hoop Contest & Ping Pong.

Also, South Orange residents through age 18 are invited to participate in South Orange Rotary’s Superheroes Art Contest throughout July. Information & entry forms are available at the library.

7/16 @7pm Heroes of the Wild West: family storyhour. Costumes welcome!

7/21 @7pm Shakespeare Theatre presents: Romeo & Juliet

7/23 @7pm ABC Mehndi (up to age 12)

8/5 @ 7pm Celebrate Diversity (all ages) 8/12 @3pm Celebrate Ruby’s birthday, our local canine hero.
