From the Fairview Lake YMCA Camps:
For children and teenagers ready to escape into nature this summer, Fairview Lake YMCA Camps invites them and their families to explore sleepaway and day camp options at the breathtaking Fairview Lake YMCA on Sunday, March 18.
Children from near and far come to Fairview Lake YMCA for unforgettable sleepaway experiences. It runs more than 24 camps and trips, from the traditional to the artistic to the adventurous, to suit the interests of children from ages 6 to 16.
This summer, campers can join new specialty camps including Build It, focused on handcrafted woodworking, engineering and creation; Fishing Camp, where kids will participate in catch and release fishing and learn about conservation and preservation of natural places; Gymnastics, with campers visiting a local gymnastics center daily; and Farm Camp, where kids will learn to take care of the goats, chickens and bunnies.
Fairview Lake’s Blue Mountain Day Camp allows local children to experience the great outdoors, build skills and confidence, make friends and create lifelong memories while spending nights at home. Activities at the 660-acre property include swimming, fishing, archery, sports, arts and crafts, hiking and sailing. (Horseback riding is offered during certain sessions for children in grades 4 and up.) Children can choose from traditional and specialty camps.
Families can meet with camp directors from 2 to 4 p.m. to learn about the array of options, sample activities such as indoor climbing, candle-making and archery, and tour the facilities. Open houses for all Fairview Lake Y camps will also be held April 8 and April 22.
