To the editor:

It is with great excitement that I endorse Donna Smith for the South Orange-Maplewood School Board.

I have known her and worked with her for the past eleven years and am so happy that she has finally decided to offer herself for service to this community, school district and the children she loves so deeply. Her passion has been felt in her involvement in the schools which educated all three of her sons. She has been an involved parent, supporting and challenging the system when the need arose. She waited until her third child graduated to enter the race, but if you elect her you have the brilliant mind of an attorney, with the measured reflection of a community leader and the passion of a parent.

She understands that all children are our children and need advocates, and at the same time she knows and understands the challenges before the system economically and philosophically. Please join me in voting for a person unafraid to take a stand on behalf of our children and our community, and unafraid to make difficult and unpopular decisions: Donna Smith.

Sincerely,

The Reverend Canon Dr.Sandye A. Wilson, Rector

The Episcopal Church of St. Andrew and Holy Communion, South Orange

Former Elected SchoolBoard Member, Asbury Park, New Jersey
