I strongly support Madhu Pai, Wayne Eastman and Margaret (Peggy) Freedson for the South Orange-Maplewood Board of Education and hope you will join me in voting for them on November 3, 2015.

With two children in elementary school in Maplewood, it is important to me that the three open slots on the board are filled by individuals who have the experience and track-record needed to get things done.

If Madhu and Wayne are not elected, the board will be made up of mostly new members who are in their first year of office.  With this also being the first year of our new superintendent, which Madhu and Wayne were instrumental in hiring, we can’t afford to lose their institutional knowledge and expertise in navigating the complexities of the budget while also ensuring that each child has the access and rigor they need to reach their potential.

Also, we can’t pass up the opportunity to bring Margaret’s years of expertise in teacher professional development to the Board.  We need to attract, retain and nurture top-notch teachers and Margaret’s years of experience in the Los Angeles and Newark public schools will help our district do just that.

Our children need us to make the right choice this November so I will be voting for Pai, Eastman and Freedson and urge you to do the same.
