HOMETOWN CO-ED ULTIMATE FRISBEE FOR MIDDLE SCHOOLERS

Ultimate is a fast-moving team sport that emphasizes athleticism and sportsmanship. It combines the aerial passing skills found in football with the quick transitions from offense to defense found in basketball, all using a high tech plastic disc (frisbee). This program is for children in grades 6-8 who are interested in learning the basic fundamentals and strategies behind Ultimate Frisbee.

Pre-Register: Pre-registration, which is free, is now open, and will stay open until August 28.  If interest exceeds available spaces, a tryout will be held (see dates below). No experience is needed to try out. If space is available for all who are interested and can commit to the attendance requirement for the program, then no tryout will be held, but all new participants will be expected to attend the orientation in lieu of tryouts on Sat, September 12th. Additional information about the need for tryouts and other program details will be communicated by the head coach once Pre-registration closes.

Pre-registration can be done online at https://register.communitypass.net/maplewood. Pre-registration can also be done by calling the Recreation Department at (973) 763-4202.

Tryouts, if needed: Sunday, September 13 (from 12:15 to 2:30) and Saturday, September 19 (from 12:45 to 3:30). Players must be Pre-Registered in order to try out.

New Player Orientation, if no tryouts: Saturday, September 19 (from 12:45 to 3:30).

Regular Season:

Sundays, 12:45-3:30 p.m., starting Sunday, September 20 through and including the Sunday prior to Thanksgiving.

Cost: Once the official roster is selected, if your child makes the team, the cost will be:

  • $70.00 paid to the Maplewood Recreation Department
  • $10.00 paid, separately by check only, to KO Media (additional info will be sent to the final roster about this payment).

If you have any questions, please feel free to call the Recreation Department or email program Head Coach Sarah McNamara @ sarahzmc@gmail.com
