SOMSD Presents ‘The Uncomfortable Conversation’ October 11

From the SOMSD:

Parents, educators and students are invited to join us on Thursday, October 11th from 7-9pm at the CHS Auditorium (17 Parker Avenue) for a screening and interactive event featuring video content produced by The Uncomfortable Conversation, an organization dedicated to normalizing conversations about consent, healthy relationships and bystander engagement. This event will introduce attendees to The Uncomfortable Conversation and some of its videos, feature a panel reflection modeling pathways to uncomfortable conversations, and offer attendees ways to practice conversations in their own families and communities.

The Uncomfortable Conversation, Inc., founded by CHS graduate, Sarah Pierson Beaulieu, is dedicated to normalizing conversations about sexual violence, particularly among young men. We believe conversations are accessible, practical and scalable tools that drive individual, organizational and cultural change. The Uncomfortable Conversation has produced 90+ short YouTube videos illustrating how men can support survivors, navigate consent, and address troubling ideas or behaviors among peers. The project has been featured in the Philadelphia Metro, WHYY, NY Observer, AskMen and FoxNews, and at events like the Independent Television Festival, Civic Series, Calling All Crows 10th Anniversary Event, and an interactive screening event at HBO.
