The following was sent by SOMSD on Tuesday, October 8. SOMSD schools are closed on Wednesday, Oct. 9 in observance of Yom Kippur:

Dear SOMSD Families,

One of the wonderful things about our community is the diversity that makes us who we are. With diversity our families will observe and celebrate many holidays throughout the year. Tonight [Tuesday, Oct. 8] begins the observance of Yom Kippur. All SOMSD teachers have been reminded that no homework is to be assigned this evening and no assignments will be due on Thursday, October 10th. In some cases, teachers have assigned long term homework/projects that were planned to be due this Thursday.  Please know there will be no penalty given to students for submitting any assignment on Friday that was originally due on Thursday, October 10th.

I hope that those who are observing Yom Kippur have an easy fast.

Sincerely,

Ann Bodnar
Director of Curriculum
