South Orange and Maplewood townships participate in TryCAN, a collaboration of communities that share recreational opportunities for youth with special needs, as well as those who may need special accommodation. As members of this collaboration, our residents are welcome to participate in all TryCAN programs. There are no residency restrictions or non-resident fees. The TryCAN mission is to help provide community-based programs and other events for youth with special needs to foster life skills, socialization and community inclusion of such youth, as well as increase general public awareness of, and sensitivity to, youth with unique needs.

Summit Community Programs is the lead agency in providing special needs programming through the TryCAN Collaboration. Attached is information about an upcoming MLK Day movie event and TryCAN winter program offerings.

Programs offered through the collaboration change throughout the year. Click HERE to view a current program listing. To learn more about TryCAN, CLICK HERE, or contact the TryCAN Coordinator at summitcan@gmail.com.
