VIDEO: South Orange-Maplewood & Refugee Teens Unite With ‘Village 2 Vilage’ Program

This summer, residents of South Orange and Maplewood made the world a better place in a simple but profound way.

Village 2 Village United (V2V), a newly formed, free summer program, connected South Orange/Maplewood teens with teens from the Syrian and Iraqi refugee community in Elizabeth.

The program, which had the teens hike together in the South Mountain Reservation, play football in Memorial Park, listen to music in Newark, and more, was so special that it caught the attention of Matt Katz of WNYC who reported on V2V here.

But Katz wasn’t the only documentarian on scene. Rising Columbia High School junior Max Goldstein produced this video:

Village 2 Village United was organized by Lisa Basile, Ellen Kahaner, Meg Engelhard, Sama Hussaini, Ellen Dreyer, Julie Kelman and Ina Rimpau.
