Between now and the end of the year, The Village Green is presenting the series, “Home for the Holidays,” a reminder during this holiday season that when you shop local, we all win! Today, we bring you Sadie’s in South Orange, a boutique brimming with clever, cool, unique — and locally sourced — gift items.
South Orange businesswoman and resident Cat Fisher celebrated the one-year anniversary of Sadie’s, her clothing and lifestyle boutique, this November. Fisher also recently became of the owner of one of South Orange’s most beloved retailer establishments, Kitchen a la Mode.
At Sadie’s, Fisher offers a plethora of potential presents — t-shirts, jewelry, accessories, home goods. The shop is bursting at the seams with stylish items at reasonable prices. While many can be bought and transported anywhere for a faraway Holiday reunion, some are just perfect for a local celebration.
For instance, nothing says “Home For The Holidays” better than a limited edition collector’s item made by a local artist featuring the iconic landmarks of South Orange and Maplewood’s iconic train stations. Created by Amanda Burns-Elhassouni, these beautiful ceramic ornaments are the first in a collection this local artist will be releasing every year. They’re great for those who grew up here and have left, as well as for the family that’s just arrived. It comes nicely packaged in a gift box, convenient for storage year to year.
Check out these amazing ornaments and other home town pride merchandise at Sadie’s in South Orange located at 65 Valley Street.
Sadie’s is currently selling wares by local artists, such as Ken Krasner maps and Paula & Waffle cards, as well as merchandise that gives back to local and national charities like the JESPY House Cookbook.
