Ibtihaj Muhammad to Launch Memoir ‘Proud’ in Her Hometown Maplewood at Words Bookstore July 25

[words] Bookstore is proud to host the launch of Ibithaj Muhammad’s memoir PROUD in her hometown of Maplewood, NJ. Her moving story depicts how she overcame obstacles and racism on the way to pursuing her dream.

Ibtihaj Muhammad is a fencer, the first Muslim American woman in a hijab to compete for the United States in the Olympic Games and the first female Muslim American to medal at the Olympic Games, winning bronze in the women’s sabre team event. Named one of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in the World, she serves as a sports ambassador for the U.S. State Department, and inspired the first hijabi Barbie in her likeness.

Muhammad will be giving a talk and signing her new book, PROUD, at [words] Bookstore. Book purchase admits two people to book talk. No purchase necessary for signing line.
