From SOMA Brewing Company:

SOMA Brewing Company, the first craft beer company out of South Orange – Maplewood, announced today that it will be hosting Oktoberfest at The Woodland on Saturday, October 6th from 12 to 8 PM at The Woodland located at 60 Woodland Ave. Maplewood, NJ.

The free event will feature live music from BIG MAMOU, Augie Haas Trio, and Amish Internet. There will be also an arts & crafts center for kids, and a variety of games for the family. Food from St. James Gate, SOMA Brewing Company beer, and wine and spirits will available for purchase.

On tap will be SOMA Brewing Company’s Two Towns Ale.  This locally crafted  Ale includes select malts and Fuggle hops, which provide clean earth tones.  Two Towns Ale is finished with cascade hops for a slight floral bitterness.

“We are really excited to debut our new brew at Oktoberfest at The Woodland, said Adam Heydt of SOMA Brewing Company.  “We hope that not only our SOMA friends but the neighboring residents will join us in a fun day of music, family games, brew and food, all for a great cause.”

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Vanessa Pollock Music Fund of the Achieve Foundation, which provides new instruments and equipment for our children in the SOMA Schools.  Along with The SOMA Brewing Company, Oktoberfest at The Woodland is sponsored by the Township of Maplewood, VP Properties Group, Dan Saland Art, CKO Kickboxing, Yoni Kreger Salon, Words Bookstore, Heydt Air, Colorful Art Studio, Three Bees, and Sheridan Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

About The SOMA Brewing Company:

The SOMA Brewing Company was started by SOMA residents Farnaz and Adam Heydt and Bianca and Chris Froelich.  Chris, an avid homebrewer and Adam a lover of craft beer decided to pursue their passion.  Over drinks at the neighborhood pub, the idea was born of the families’ desire to keep it local.  Both families live and are very active in the South Orange – Maplewood area, and, between the two families, have 5 children in the public school district.  This made the idea of making craft beer for locals by locals an easy decision. From their families, homes, blocks, and neighborhoods, The SOMA Brewing Company hopes that you will drink local!
