People That You Meet is a series of interviews conducted and posted by the Vanessa Pollock Team/Keller Williams, highlighting residents of the South Orange-Maplewood community and their diverse and interesting lives.

This edition spotlights Stephanie Block, an actor/singer (Psst, Stephanie’s very modest; she happens to be an actor/singer with her own Wikipedia and IMDb pages!).

Stephanie Block

What town do you live in? Maplewood

Where did you live before that? Harlem, Manhattan

What brought you to SOMA? I had reached a certain age (clears throat) and my husband and I desperately wanted to start a family. After much search, Maplewood was the place for that… the place for us.

What do you do (for a living or as a serious hobby)? Actor/singer

What’s your favorite feature of your home? Everyone comments that our home has such incredible light.

Where do you love to go on a date night? We have a toddler so date nights are few and far between (we have to remedy that). When we do take an evening, we are “dinner and a movie” people.

What’s music/album are you really into these days? Being at home with a toddler I find I’m being reintroduced to some incredible Disney scores. We’ll play the soundtrack(s) to the original Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid. These scores are sweeping, soothing… really incredible.

If you could have a super-power, what would it be? If I had a super power, I would like the ability to be in 4-5 places at one time… not divided, mind you… wholly and completely in 4-5 places at once.

What’s the best book you’ve read in the last 5 years? Oh gosh… the best book… a book that has stuck with me these last 5 years has been The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini.

Coffee or Tea?  I’m a coffee drinker in the morning and a tea gal at night.
